Experienced Gold Leaf Technician

RJ Marx is seeking a Gold Leaf technician to join our team in Appleton, WI. RJ Marx is an established Fire Truck graphics producer, manufacturer and printer of custom vehicle graphics, indoor/outdoor signage as well as apparel decoration. Specializing in the Fire & Emergency industry, we strive to create high quality and durable products.

As part of a team of collaborative professionals, our Gold Leaf technician must be able to paint letters and graphic elements using high end lettering quill type brushes. He/She will be expected to apply 23kt. gold leaf along with other thin metal leaf to sized in areas previously painted to clear vinyl.

Applicants will be expected to/learn how to ball burnish, clear coat and prep finished graphics for laminating and printing. Employee will be expected to maintain a positive attitude, be results-driven, creatively solve problems and have a flexible approach to projects and technology. Ability to communicate and collaborate is key to our company culture. Daily activities center around creating gold leaf type graphics for use in the Fire & Emergency field.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create high quality gold leaf type products on vinyl in a clean room environment.
• Be willing to learn new processes through hands-on training.
• Be organized, consistent, and detail-oriented.
• Have a holistic understanding of the application of gold leaf to fire & safety vehicles.
• Have strong process-driven and problem-solving skills.
• Be intellectually and visually curious.
• Work independently as well as with others.

Experience/Physical Requirements

• Previous work as a sign/letter artist preferred.
• Proficiency in using a lettering style quill to create letters and artistic shapes and graphics.
• Strong familiarity with the Fire and Emergency vehicle industry.
• Solid understanding on the basic elements of Gold Leafing and hand lettering.
• Have the skill set to learn from trained professionals when learning new tasks.
• Energetic, good hand/eye coordination skills, good eyesight, good pace, and endurance.
• Attention to detail.
• Non-impaired physically. Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and use arms extensively.
• Good hand dexterity.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Job Details

• Job Status: Full-time
• Pay: $40,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year, depending on current ability to perform tasks. Inexperience could affect starting pay.
• Benefits: 401(k), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Paid time off (to be determined)
• Schedule: Up to 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday (9 hours Monday-Thursday, 4 hours on Fridays).
